Don't forget Core Work, it's not just abs it's also your lats, to the mid section of your thighs/hamstrings, armpit area... where the major organs are. The core protects your posture which when you become tired on a run is what you will rely on to the finish line.
Form on running when you bring your knees to chest for sprints you engage the hip flexors, hip flexors engage the lower abs. How does your lower abs look? Poke out a little .... flab out a little.... you be the judge.
